CHILD SAFTEY  Every soccer year Vista Soccer Club, and Portland Youth Soccer Association Conducts a background check on all adults who work with the children participating in our soccer programs. All coaches, assistant coaches, team managers, board members, chaperones, employees, volunteers and any individual who are in a position to control or work with youth soccer players are required to register with Vista. Registration will be used to conduct a background check for each adult volunteer.

Parents should be sure that there are at least two “registered” adults present at every practice and game. An adult who has not submitted a background check form to Vista Soccer Club is not permitted to be alone with any child or walk them to the bathroom. Equally, the 2 registered adults may not leave a practice or game until the last child has been picked up by their parent. Parents should know which 4 adults are approved to be with the children and and be sure that at least 2 of them are always present. Coaches are required to cancel practices or games if they can not meet this requirement.

Vista suggests in addition to the coach and assistant coach that 2 other adult parents fill out the disclosure statements at least 2 weeks prior to the Individual beginning any activities with the players. In most cases this will be the team parent plus one other volunteer. This allows the background check to be completed and the club notified of problem results before they have contact with children.

Player must bring a signed copy of their medical release form to their first practice. The coach is responsible to make sure the forms are present on the field at each practice and game.
