REGISTRATION OVERVIEW: Remember that the email address you use to enroll your child in the program will be the address to which all correspondence will be sent. If you are volunteering as a coach, assistant coach or manager, it is a good idea to register with the email you will use for the season. Equally you are required to keep your email address, and account details up to date on this site. The rosters for the teams will be available for viewing in late August. The coaches will be contacting you. Some coaches begin practices the week before school starts while others wait to receive their practice field assignments.

TEAM INFORMATION: All players must be registered in accordance with the rules of the Club. Coaches must not permit a player to participate in any game or practice unless they have been properly registered with the Vista Soccer Club and PYSA. (Failure to do so may invalidate Club or PYSA insurance).

TEAM PLACEMENT POLICY: Please note that VSC attempts to keep teams together from year-to-year and to honor requests, but we will make necessary changes to fairly accommodate the maximum number of players. Changes in teams are sometimes necessary due to the different game format (number of players on the field) for each grade. If two players both request each other as a teammate we will do our best to fulfill that request. Please note that this is for reciprocal placements only. If someone requests a player who does not request them, there is no policy about placement. However, due to the size of the club we will not be able to provide player placement onto a team that is already at its maximum when we have others that do not have enough players. Vista attempts to place players from the same school on the same teams together, however, this is not a club policy.

LATE REGISTRATION PLACEMENT: Players who register by the “regular” registration deadline get first priority to the team they played on in the prior year. This is a first come, first serve policy and is not available once a team has reached the maximum number of players for that age group. Once a team has reach capacity it will be closed to registration. At this time registered players, including retuning players, will then be placed onto the team with the least amount of assigned players in that age group and division. If no space is available, we will do our best to assign the player to another team of the same age in the local area.

TEAM SIZE: The targeted team size is designed to assure adequate playing time (at recreation each player should play at least 50% of each game, unless there is a disciplinary issue) as well as provide for adequate substitutions in the event a player or two is not able to show up for a game. Team maxiumums are as follows: Age/Maximum number of players: Microsoccer - 6 players, U7 - 10 players, U8 - 12 players, U9 - 12 players, U10 - 14 players and U11 - 16 players

COACHES: Each team must have at least one Coach and one Assistant Coach. In addition, all soccer teams are required to have at least two (2) registered volunteers present at every practice and game. Vista Soccer Club requires Background Disclosure Statements from all coaches, assistant coaches, administrators and other volunteers (registered volunteers) affiliated with its registered soccer clubs, including all teams coaches and assistant coaches. Failure to comply may prevent your team from receiving a field assignment.

We always allow a coach to coach their own child, so long as they are the same age as the rest of the team.  We also allow each team to have one assistant coach, which can also have their child on the team. We do not allow coaches to pick their team or to add a new player to their team simply because they request a child.  Any new kids are assigned based upon the process that was briefly explained above.

What to do if the team you played on last year is no longer participating?
Many VSC players choose to move to a competitive soccer leagues around 5th grade. Equally, on occasion we have teams that do not continue from one year to the next. This happens every year and should not hold you back from continuing to play. Vista will continue to place all players. If we do not get enough players for a particular age group we will team up with our neighboring clubs to ensure that all kids can play soccer.
