About the Club

Vista Soccer Club was formed in 1998 to provide an organization within which children could learn and play soccer. Our goal is to provide guidance and instruction for players in a safe, positive and organized environment.

VSC is an all volunteer club. We need people on and off the fields. Please email us at vista.soccer@yahoo.com for more information.

Vista Soccer Club is a 501(c)(3) corporation.

Board Job Descriptions

The Vista Soccer Board meets approximately 8 times per year. 

 

Assistant Registrar :
The assistant registrar will shadow and assist the current registrar with all registration issues for a year and then become the registrar the following year. This person will then train the new assistant registrar for the following season.

 

Finance Manager :
The finance manager is responsible for transferring funds from the club's PayPal account into
the club's checking account.  The finance manager writes about 30 checks per year to reimburse suppliers.  In spring, the finance manager prepares a simple statement of income and expenses to send to the club's accountant.  The finance manager makes a recommendation about the appropriate fee to charge participants based on the club's expenses.   

 

Publicity :
The Publicity Board Position responsibilities include updating web site as needed throughout year, and the publicity of upcoming registration every year in early spring. Registration publicity entails the revision of the Vista Soccer flyer detailing league registration for upcoming season ('08 - '09), mailing of flyers to past players and coaches for new season in mid-April, followed by flyer distribution and postings at area elementary schools.  Postings of signs in SW Portland for Fall Registration also required. 
 
Other responsibilities include help with marketing needs over the summer and other Vista Soccer sponsored activities such as last years Vista Soccer Gear Exchange. Finally, Publicity member is responsible for publicizing open board positions which become vacant, typically at the end of the year. 

 

 

Photo and Team Parent Coordinator :
Photo Coordination:
This position works with the club's professional photographer, Garry Photography, to schedule and manage team photos. This includes scheduling, distribution of photo packets to team parents prior to photo day, and coordination with trophy vendor for return of photos prior to end-of-season parties. Support on photo day helps keep day on schedule and running smoothly. Photos are done for both Micro and Vista Teams together.
Team Parent Coordination:
Works with photo coordinator to distribute information about the club to team parents included photo packets, handbooks, website.

 

Team Coordinator:
This position is divided among two parents; one for the girls teams and the other for the boys teams. There is a separate coordinator for Kindergarten. The position involves rostering all returning players to their team from last year. New players to the team with the least amount of players as needed. It also involves assignment of a head coach and assistant coach to every team. Most are returning coaches but this part may require email and phone calls to the parents of that team to solicit their help particularly in the 1st grade and 2nd grade levels.
 
Rostering is done using our on line web site which "auto" rosters returning players. Other players are manually placed. The software will require web training which can be completed at your home and takes about an hour or two. The Team Coordinator will work closely with the rest of the registration team including the other gender team coordinator and registrar.
